The Keeper Of Lost Causes 201

In 1945, German paratrooper Bert Trautmann (David Kross) is captured while fighting in the forests near Kleve. Transferred to a British POW camp in Lancashire, he and his comrades are kept under strict conditions and made to work to repair the damage their country has caused to the surrounding area. Jack Friar (John Henshaw), a local tradesman and manager of non-league side St Helens Town, spots Trautmann keeping goal against other POWs during a trip to deliver treats to the camp commander and bribes the commander into allowing Trautmann to be allowed out of the camp, whereupon he recruits him to play as goalkeeper for his relegation-threatened side.

The County Clerk serves as records keeper for the County. All documents relating to real estate i.e. deeds, mortgages, mineral interests, plats, liens, judgments as well as State and Federal tax liens and military discharge records. Solution: When executed properly, there should be no issues with digital files being lost or misplaced, and even if someone deletes a document you will still have the ability to recover it.

Ponemon Institute was founded in 2002 by Dr. Larry Ponemon. Headquartered in Michigan, Ponemon Institute is considered the pre-eminent research center dedicated to privacy, data protection and information security policy. Our annual consumer studies on privacy trust are widely quoted in the media and our research quantifying the cost of a data breach has become valuable to organizations seeking to understand the business impact of lost or stolen data.

The tracheal mite (Acarapis woodii) was first described as the causal agent of Isle of Wight disease in the United Kingdom in the early 20th century. U.S. beekeepers first noticed these mites in their hives about 1990. The tracheal mites were the first to cause heavy winter losses of bee hives in the United States. However, recent surveys show that Varroa mites cause more colony losses in North America and Europe than any other factor.

To detect tracheal mites one must slice the thorax (the part where the wings attach) of each bee into pieces, stain the tissue, and examine it under a microscope at 400 times magnification. If less than 5% of the bees are infested, the hive should be able to survive the winter. Beekeepers rarely check for tracheal mites or use treatments to control them, because resistant bees are now common.

Varroa mites transmit many bee diseases. When Varroa infestations occur, beekeepers may observe brood disease, which causes larvae to die in their cells before the cells are capped. Beekeepers may also observe sacbrood, which is a virus disease that causes larvae to die about the time that the brood cell is sealed.

Monitoring It is important for beekeepers to have an idea of the mite populations in their hives. It is easy to overlook the presence of Varroa mites during a casual hive inspection. Beekeepers usually do not notice the mites on bees until there are a lot of mites in the hive.

Beekeepers administer synthetic miticides by hanging a miticide strip between the combs. For the other treatments (except dribbling oxalic acid onto clusters of bees), beekeepers administer them as vapors (or fumigants) within the hive. It is important to follow product directions and pay careful attention to temperature and hive ventilation.

Many U.S. mite populations have become resistant to fluvalinate and coumaphos, but these products may regain their effectiveness if they have not been used for several years. Amitraz is a good choice for commercial beekeepers who have large numbers of hives and need a reliable and easy-to-apply control method. The other products listed will provide adequate control when used properly, but may require repeated applications especially when brood is present.

Two of the four known species of Tropilaelaps mites (T. clareae and T. mercedesae) have made the host shift from the giant honey bee in Asia (A. dorsata), to our western honey bees, A. mellifera. Tropilaelaps mites are mostly restricted to the tropics in Asia and in one location in Africa. The Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is currently monitoring each year for Tropilaelaps mites in the U.S. because they can be devastating to western honey bees in the tropics. As of this writing, these mites have not been found in the U.S., Australia, South America or Europe. Tropilaelaps feed and reproduce only on bee larvae in brood cells. They damage bees in a way that is similar to Varroa because they transmit viruses during feeding, such as deformed wing virus. Tropilaelaps are much smaller and can move much faster than Varroa (Figure 5). Their mouth parts are not large enough to allow them to feed on adult bees and these mites usually die within 3 days when no brood is present to feed on or to lay eggs upon. A break in the brood cycle occurs in temperate climates as the queen honey bee stops egg laying as winter approaches. Putting bees in a screen package without brood for 48 hours has been considered sufficient to rid the bees of Tropilaelaps. For these reasons Tropilaelaps is unlikely to become a major problem in the U.S., at least outside of Florida, where honey bees can have brood year-round. But Tropilaelaps mites have been found in South Korea and northern China, which have temperate climates. At this time, there is no reason for beekeepers in the Midwest to be concerned about this pest.

The facilitator or keeper of the Circle guides the dialog with prompting questions or topics to assist the Circle in creating a safe space for honest dialog and then in helping participants explore the topic of the Circle. The keeper is not a fixer or an expert. In a Circle, all voices are equal; all input is valued. The Circle Keeper guides the participants in creating a safe container and then monitors the quality of that container but does not take sole responsibility for the quality of the container as the Circle develops. All participants share that responsibility.

Last week, Netflix said it lost subscribers for the first time in more than a decade, shedding 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter, and it expected to lose 2 million more this quarter. The disclosure unnerved investors, who wondered whether the streaming giant had lost its golden touch. Shares plummeted 35% on April 20, its biggest one-day decline since 2004.

HARKNESS: It is. When I started working on this, I was not really sure what I was doing. I think I probably thought I was writing an op-ed piece. So I just kind of kept saying, well, imagine this. Imagine that. Imagine you really were a witch. Would you be happy to be a witch, historically speaking? No. Say you find a lost book. Oh, I remember that lost book that I never found! You know, I found the Book of Soyga. Ashmole 782 is still missing. So, I thought, okay, say you found Ashmole 782, what would be in it? Why might it have disappeared? I just kept setting up these sort of historical research questions, as if my character was a real person. 2ff7e9595c
